A Day in Croissy (The Day When We Accidentally Ordered a Three Course Meal)
Thursday, May 5th. Today was a holiday!!!!!!!! Do you know what that means? That means that we didn't have school and I got to sleep in!!!!!!!! It was soo nice. McKenna and the other Croissy kids invited Carson and Jessica to come over and spend the day with us exploring our temporary home town. It was a beautiful day and a relaxing one. Learned a lot about the town. It's really quite a lovely place. The Seine is beautiful. Ok, now i'm sure you're expecting some sort of explanation about my title. We went to the tea house because Madame de Grand-Maison. host mom of Haley and Natalie suggested we try it. We went in expecting to get hot chocolate or something small. The waiter told us about what they were serving then asked us what we would like to drink. We told him and he came back with our drinks and entrees for each of us and then a meal, and dessert. We all looked at each other confused. None of us had ordered lunch...we think. Maybe this was a lunch only place, maybe we had misunderstood the waiter's french? The second answer would be correct. Total miscommunication. Once we figured out what was going on, it was too late and we were like, "well, might as well enjoy it now that it's done." The meal itself was really good. Probably a lot cheaper than if we were to get the same meal in the US. After we were done exploring the neighborhood we went to my house and watch "Men in Black." I had never seen it before. It was funny and I can't say that I didn't like it, but it was also really gross and slightly disturbing. I might be scarred with alien images. We had a small dance party after the movie before the others went home and we were responsible. Learned how to hula dance from Haley. Carson wouldn't join us. We tried to tell him that it was perfectly manly, but he wouldn't join us. Oh well. It was a good day. Nice to stay home for a day and not go into the city. Our Host family went to a friends house that night, but mom had left us homemade rice a roni. :) Who knew that was french? Well that's all for now. Love you!

These snails are everywhere here. Maybe as big as my thumb.
Josephine, wife of Napoleon, ran away to Croissy during the revolution and lived there the remainder of her days.
 Pretty Nature scene. Ooh ahh.
This is the original chapel in Croissy. I don't remember how old it is because I lost the picture I took of the sign that went with it, but it's old and awesome.

This is the home to the last lord, and first mayor of Croissy. It's now a tea house/ restaurant. This is where we had our accidental, twenty dollar lunch.

Don't they just look divine? There was a entree as well, but I didn't think to take a picture of it before I ate it. The cake literally shimmers like gold and tasted heavenly.
Aww, here's the sign for the old chapel. It's from the 11th century it looks like. It's no longer in use. It might be as a small museum of sorts. Croissy was a favorite of Anne d'Austriche, mother of Louis XIV.

A marker dedicated to the lord of Croissy to represent their power. It used to be in a passage/ or garden of sorts, but it's over grown now.

Hanging out by the Seine. It was a beautiful day. This tree was harder to climb then it looks. Not once you got up, but i'm just an inch too short to reach the lowest branch and the tree is above rocks leading into the Seine. I did it though. Ok, I had help.

This area is apparently very inspiring. Many impressionist artists came to Croissy to paint during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
I think this is their way of keeping the river banks from eroding away more than they already have. Looks like lots of egg holders doesn't it?

This chapel replaced the old one in 1882. It's pretty, and still in use today.
